Goodbye August! Goals for September? Let’s Go!
Isn’t it crazy how fast the year is flying by? The end of summer is here, and we are now getting ready for autumn. Time to get back to goal setting.
I must say summer is my favourite season: The kids are out of school, so there is less traffic on the road. The weather is warm (surprisingly, we had a good summer in London, more sun than rain, amen) and people are usually in a better mood! Plus, there are a few of us in my friendship groups who have birthdays in the summer months, so it is a good time all around.
During the summer, I accomplished a lot of my goals. Aside from making it through, I am grateful that I have made it to this point.
At the start of summer, I moved into my first apartment; check out my blog post on moving solo and what I have learned. It has really helped me to develop in more ways than one, and it has helped my mental health tremendously. Being in my own space has helped me to get back into my creative bag, and I love it here. I have more time to study, clean and get to really know myself without distractions.
I also started a new relationship with an amazing man, which has been nothing short of amazing. What I appreciate about the world of manifestation is that I didn’t anticipate any of this happening so quickly. It is amazing how the way universe and God works.
I began blogging again. I had to readjust to find a new schedule and see where I would be able to make time to brainstorm and post a new blog. I am still working on when I can post on social media consistently again, but I am still taking baby steps.
I am still learning about how my ADHD impacts me and how I am learning to cope with my symptoms. At times, I want to do a lot, and I have things to tick off my to-do list, but procrastination and my mood swings may get over me but I have to learn more and give myself more grace. I will continue to try my hardest to focus on the goal and not let anything deter me from achieving my goals.
Speaking of goals, let’s discuss the goals that we want to set for the following month.
Focusing on time management
Time management is helpful for me as when I am in my hyper-focused mood, time can escape me, and I can get bogged down on one task for hours. Also, I tend to procrastinate more than I should, so it would be helpful for me to narrow tasks down and to set how long I should work on each task; that way I know that if I don’t complete everything within the time frame, I will schedule to finish it another time given that it is not a crucial task that needs to be done as soon as possible.
During the week, it may be difficult to be strict about my time management especially before and after work, as I just want to relax and not think about what is on my to-do list all the time. But if it is a crucial task, I will ensure that I focus on doing it first so I can unwind and relax before going to bed.
Set another saving goal
Summer months tend to be more expensive as it is many of my friends’ birthdays and mine. Plus, I tend to do more activities during the warmer months. Now, I need to be more mindful and go back to tracking my spending to ensure that I don’t neglect my saving habits.
Having more rest
I do have annual leave from work, but during the days off, I will be doing a lot of things, so there will not time for me to unwind and rest. Sometimes I feel guilty for taking time off work because I do enjoy my job, and I feel as if I don’t need to use my leave as of right now. However, I must listen to my body and rest when needed. I have to rest to concentrate and focus on what I have to do. If I am tired, I struggle to maintain focus which can result in me making careless mistakes at work. Hence, I will be booking off more annual leave as I need to rest and recover as work can be draining at times, so I need more time to pour back into me.
Having something to look forward to
Time is flying, and when I am bogged down with work, I don’t tend to have exciting things planned, and sometimes I need something to look forward to give me a little push to keep going when I feel like quitting. I don’t know what I want to look forward to, but perhaps it will be worth looking for either an activity to do in London or find another fun, cheap alternative, so I have a healthy balance of work and play. What do you have to look forward to next month?
Take away
When life is lifing at times, we are so focused on getting on with what we have to do that we forget to stop and smell the flowers and remain present.
